The Environment and Hashimotos

Research shows environmental factors being the primary cause of auto immune diseases.  Our bowl becomes filled with toxins, it then spills over causing symptoms and illness (auto immune ) like Hashimotos.   Its time to stop extra toxins from entering the bowl.  I know we can not be perfect at this, we are surrounded daily by water, food, air, stress etc…. All things that affect us in some way, but we have to be proactive and take our health back.  Stop cheating yourself from the goodness of life.  We all have choices.

I know almost everyone is aware of toxins from pesticides, makeups, artificial flavors, dyes, house hold chemicals.  The best thing for you to do is to buy products with the least ingredients.  Even when preparing foods.  Don’t use recipes or buy foods that have long ingredients.  Especially things you can not pronounce.  Why are we eating foods that we can not pronounce? yikes!

They do taste good, but what the picture shows is not always whats going in the body.  It may even look like the picture on the box or the description, but when you are consuming those french fries from the fast food restaurant.  I guarantee you its not just cut potatoes. But we will continue to eat things just because we become tempted and in the mean time our bowl is filling with toxins.

Additives and chemicals ingredients are usually odorless, so you don’t even realize this when consuming them.  Its  a few days later when you have a flare up.  When your throat feels like a lump, you start retaining water,  when your joints hurt, or maybe your energy is sapped.  This is always usually day three for me.  I was diagnosis with Hashimotos 9 years ago, and I’m just finally seeing symptoms I can pinpoint myself from what I’ve eaten or where they are coming from. Day three is when I will have a flare up if I eat something that my body is sensitive too, or if I have been stressed about something.  Auto Immune is not just affected from food. Reducing stress plays an important part in healing your body.

My symptoms are usually but not limited to 3-5 lb increase, water retention, foggy thinking, achy joints, extreme fatigue, anxiety, mood swings.  I use to get the lump in my throat, but I rarely get that anymore. The inflammation in my thyroid has been managed through eating, and stress reduction, but when I indulge or cheat I usually get some or all of the above symptoms.

Adrenal Fatigue, Gluten Sensitivity, Candida, Allergies to foods/mold, High and Low Blood Sugar,Cholesterol, Chronic Infections, Heavy Metals, Hormones, all co-mingle with Hashimoto symptoms.

No Wonder your feeling the way you do. No your not crazy! they really are symptoms!

Think of how many people are probably walking around with these frustrating symptoms, feeling hopeless.  Its really sad.  I have such a heart for people that suffer with auto immune and do not know what to do about it or ones that don’t realize they have it and they just continue to live with it.  There are answers and there are ways to start healing your thyroid and seeing real results. We just have to get back to the basics.

Simple starters can be switching your deodorant to natural or homemade.  Buy a fluoride free toothpaste, find a parabens/phthalates free makeup, or try and go without makeup unless its a big event,(less exposure). You can see some natural ways to live on my post called ( natural living) all ways to better your thyroid.

The goal is to reduce toxins so that you can heal your thyroid naturally.  Your head and neck have a lymphatic system that wanders into the throat, neck, and thyroid area, so does your breast and under arm so removing things like chemically laden makeups and deodorants means less flowing through the lymph channels.

We have choices and we can take responsibilty for our own health.  Knowledge is so important for healing “YOU” everyone has something that clicks, that helps them make a choice.  Just take small steps and start making a difference in your life. Eventually you will see changes you didn’t think you could make.  It begins with being fed up.  You are worth the extra mile, the extra time.  I highly recommend ordering Dr. Haskell book called “Hope for Hashimotos” and get educated.  Join a eating plan that is low glycemic.  I promote THM because it works wonderfully for people that have auto immune.  It helps balance hormones, blood sugar, reduces cravings, and cholesterol, they promote products that help heal your body.  You can join there Facebook page with tons of support daily, asking questions and getting meal ideas.   You can check out  the results on their Facebook link above or go  to their website and learn more of how to EAT TO LIVE!  Changing just one thing today to better your tomorrow is doable.  Pick something, keep doing it and then add something else.  Don’t stress yourself out on how to get healthy or obtain perfection.  Its common sense, basics that we have forgotten.  We don’t have to live in this world to mimic it, be set apart and start living your life!
